First Contact: no charge
I would love to hear about your project and would be happy to answer any questions you have about my work. Most people start with an initial phone call, which I do not charge for, and then book an initial consultation.
Initial Consultation and report
Most clients are eager to get started and this begins with an initial consultation. I will tour your home, ask you questions about your priorities and your needs, and begin to discuss solutions to your problems. I will follow up this meeting with a Consultation Report, typically one page of typed notes summarizing my recommendations. The Consultation and Report can either function as a stand-alone service, or can be the first step toward the preparation of a Proposal and Design Contract.
Proposal and Design Contract
For larger projects, the Consultation Report can be expanded into a full Project Proposal. The Proposal outlines your needs and priorities and shows how I would approach the project, how I would phase it, and how much I expect the Design Fees to be. If you are satisfied with the proposal, I would ask you to sign a simple contract in the form of a letter of agreement, and would then schedule your project.
Fee Structures
I generally bill on an hourly basis, but I can provide fixed design fees for those who prefer a set price. Hourly rates are as follows:
Consulting, Coaching, Project Management and Design: $120 hour
Personal Shopping and Personal Organizing: $80/hour
Design Assistant, Internet Shopping and Errands: $50/hour
Pay-as-you-go Option
For smaller projects or clients who just need some advice and direction rather than a full-service contract, I offer a pay-as-you-go option. Consultations are scheduled one at a time and payment is expected at the conclusion of each meeting.
Retail Purchases
Clients may purchase their own furnishings at retail outlets or can pay me at my personal shopping rate to handle this for them.
Trade purchases
There are several lines of furniture, fixtures and lighting that I can purchase at trade prices. Some of these may also be available through retail outlets, and others are available only through designers or “to the trade.”
Because my discounts range from 50% (true wholesale) to a mere 10%, my markup has to be determined on a case-by-case basis. I can, however, make the following commitments:
1) I will never charge my clients more than the manufacturers recommended retail price (mrrp).
2) When possible, I will extend a discount of 5-35% to my clients.
Note that purchases made through me must be paid in full before I place the order, and that trade purchases are considered special order or custom and are not returnable.
Note also that clients are responsible for paying shipping, sales tax, and
installation, which are billed through at cost.
